Writing: Empowering Students' Voices - English Version

Written by Nyoman Sari

How does one speak their mind, and how does one spread their ideas?

Well, one of the ways you, especially a student, can raise their concerns and voice out their plans is by writing! Writing is a powerful tool for all, and it's not just used as a way to copy notes from the class whiteboard. It can be used as a way to propose a certain idea and appeal it to a wider audience. By using different kinds of resources such as a pen and paper to writing in a digital form, there are a lot of methods that you can use to start writing and forming the right words.

There are many things that you can explore just from writing! You can start by exploring your own mind–as it is your best tool and during the writing process. Try searching through strings of ideas that come through your mind and bursts of new possible schemes that you can execute. Besides that, you can also investigate your surroundings and figure out the topics you want to cover, ranging from educational related problems to social issues.

With writing, you can also reach out to more people about your brilliant ideas and plans. These ideas shouldn’t be stuck in a zone where no one can access them- they should be spread to other people! You never know when your writing could be a breakthrough in the community, right?

And through writing, you can freely pour your ideas into one mold- your very own text! Your text doesn’t have to be based on a certain writing form, as you can use your own creativity to come up with new concepts and viewpoints. While yes, you still have to follow a certain grammatical standard, you’re still free to do whatever you want.

You can also use your writing as a way to amplify your voices, or even other people’s voices that need to be heard. Sometimes, we need the right audience for the solutions that we are trying to provide that might help other people, but it's hard to figure out how to reach that certain audience. But now, we have a special tool to do so– writing! So don’t hesitate, and just start uncovering the moments you’ve always wanted to reveal to the public eye through writing!
