Led by Zendaya, Celebrities Look Extravagant in "The Garden of Time" Themed Fashion Designs at the 2024 Met Gala - English Version

One of the most eye-catching looks to appear at the 2024 Met Gala was Zendaya's. Not just one design, he appeared in two extravagant looks, Maison Margiela by John Galliano and Vintage Givenchy by John Galliano.

Followed by other invited celebrities, they looked stunning with the designs they wore. However, what exactly is the Met Gala? What is the purpose of holding this annual event?

So, basically the Met Gala is a charity event for The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City which is held every year on the first Monday of May. Celebrities, designers, and other influential people gather to celebrate fashion and collect donations for the museum. The person behind all this is Anna Wintour. She has been the main mastermind of this party since 1999. He is also the editorial director of Condé Nast and editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine. In his hands and combined with the names of famous celebrities, the Met Gala has become the biggest and most prestigious fashion mega-showcase in the world. 

Not everyone can attend this event and only specially invited people can attend. The list of invited guests is also a secret until the day of the Met Gala. Even though people can buy Met Gala tickets at fantastic prices — up to US$ 75.000 (Rp.1,2 billion) — all guests must get approval from Anna Wintour as chairman of the Met Gala. This year there were around 450 invited guests attending the Met Gala.

Every year, invited guests are instructed to attend with a predetermined dress code theme. This year, the Met Gala has the theme "The Garden of Time" which refers to a short story by a writer  in 1962, J. G. Ballard. Apart from that, as reported by Vogue, they will display several rare items that are more than 400 years old from several designers such as Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy, etc.

So, what happened inside the Met Gala? The answer is that no one knows what happens inside except the invited guests. This is because the Met Gala has a rule not to use cellphones and social media during the event. 

Therefore, outsiders don't know what kind of events take place at the Met Gala. However, people can take a peek at the menu provided and the decor used inside through several exclusive photos taken inside the Met Gala. 

This year, it was known that Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth would be the hosts of the 2024 Met Gala. Apart from that, Ariana Grande was one of the performers who appeared at the Met Gala by performing several of her hit songs such as Into You, Dangerous Woman, Seven Rings, to songs from her latest album. Meanwhile, the main menu served was beef filet with rose tortellini sprinkled on top.

Every year the Met Gala is always a public highlight, and this year is no exception where the invited guests try to show their best performance which has a unique theme, "The Garden of Time".
